White House Plantation
Project
White House Plantation
White House Plantation is located at the strategic intersection of the Black and Pee Dee Rivers, and is a duck and dove hunting plantation. The only remnants of its antebellum past are two brick chimneys and an Overseer’s cottage. It was decided that renovating and adding to the Cottage, which had become a hunting cabin, offered more possibilities than building new. The design involved adding wings to each side of the existing structure connected by hyphens. Strategically placed screen porches completed the design. The result is a timeless representation of the South Carolina Lowcountry vernacular.
